Its Cold Test

"Great!"

submission: Its Cold Test

It's great. I just wish it was longer. I see a lot of potential for this to be a song. I loved it. The intro was smooth, and the guitar was recorded clean and with the perfect amount of distortion, as usual. Seriously, how do you get such clean recordings? Mine get distorted and totally ruined... Anyways, great test!

Author's Response:

That's why almost everything I submit is tests. Because I try out different methods. Well in this track I had a new setup on my guitar. I had raised the height of the microphones quite much so I turned down some presence on the Pod etc and gave it a bit more bass. When I record guitar i make 4 dubs. That is that I play the same thing 4 times. And pan them 100 L 60 L 100 R 60 R so it's completly stereo.
And I use a digital compressor plugin called Waves Rcomp . And I just use cubase's EQ. Nothing fancy. But still , glad you liked it.
Cheers n beers.

Very good! Only a couple of choppy spots, and great looping. The guitar also fit very well.

It had a bit of long intro with a sudden sound change that I didn't like. The drums were not that good, and the synth was pretty annoying at time. It had its moments, like the outro. Perfect outro, and it loops well. Keep playing around with your synth and you're sure to master it.

Untill 1:02. It was great and everything, but there were some background sounds that didn't fit. The outro and intro were great. The first half rocked.

Overall, it gets a:

Author's Response:

hmm... idk I liked 1:02. That's playing the sound that was the original bass line backwards. I liked it. And you still didn't vote

Voyage to Heaven

"Pretty Sweet"

It is pretty hardcore in a good and bad way. It just kind of fries your brain when listening with headphones. It rocks and seems like something that deserves to be in a movie, flash or real. It flows perfectly. It even loops not too bad. Anyways, it is a great song. Just is a tiny bit repetitive with the same sound looping through almost the entire thing. Still, great job.

It was great. I saw people running away at the start to run away from an oncoming massacre, from anything, like a knight, a gang, or even police breaking up a riot. The transition was sweet. Didn't make sense until the 'fshew' thing came in.. Also, when the piano was alone, I hoped it would play the rest of the notes. That's the only reason you lost a star. Keep it up!

It's a good song. I kind of like how you used a ton of choir ahhs, just like in the game. I took off 1 star because of repetitive bass. It was annoying after a while. But still, I like it. Good job, and keep it.

October 19, 2008

Author's Response:

Yeah, the bass is repetitive now that you say it.
Anyways, thanks for the review!

It good. I don't think you should have let me accidentally keep the sax solo out. It makes it a lot better. Still, i liked it.
